I began as an abstract painter later in my life. I had raised a family, worked as a teacher, philanthropist, and produced charity events.
Always admiring the abstract painters, particularly Mark Rothko, Georgia O’Keefe, Richard Diebenkorn and Helen Frankenthaler, I decided to enroll at the Sarasota Art Center where I first discovered the enveloping joy of painting. I found myself transported – swept into a world where time disappeared – and exploration led the way.
As an abstract painter working in mixed media, I explore emotion, texture and movement to create personal works of art. I am drawn to spontaneity. I love the unpredictability of the process and the way color flows into the unexpected, how layers of paint and material intersect to reveal something new each time. Some days I am drawn to quiet, neutral palettes, on others, vibrant and energetic colors.
I find I lose track of time … watching how paint moves into free shapes is always a surprise. There is a sense of freedom while I am creating. I love the discovery.
My art is deeply personal. I believe that a painting should speak to someone the moment they encounter it. The intimate connection is what gives my art life and meaning.
It is my goal to help people feel truly connected to the vision that they hang on their wall. Art that speaks in color, moves with emotion, and lives with you. I collaborate closely with individuals to understand their vision, exploring the colors that move them, the textures they love, and translate them into a truly unique, and personal work of art.
